Hong Kong Marathon
On Feb. 13 Fr. Irek Dampc ran his second Hong Kong Marathon. That’s a 42 kilo run, mind you. In 2005 he came in 1660 out of 5000 runners. This year he placed 1408 out of 6000.

Why does he do it? “When I run I feel totally free,” Irek says. But also, “I wanted to give an example to the youth in my parish, to show them that priests are human beings and they can do other things than just saying mass and have meetings.
I am hoping one day we will organize ourselves in a group and run together a marathon together.” Oh, and after the 42 kilo marathon, Fr. Irek went on to celebrate the afternoon parish mass.
